Location. Rising eight stories above a quiet stretch of the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas, the Watermark Hotel and Spa is located three blocks from the historic Alamo and six blocks from the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Within one mile of this luxury boutique hotel are the King William Historic District and the Alamodome.
Hotel Features. Epitomizing the art of relaxation, the Watermark Hotel and Spa’s lobby is embellished with a limestone fireplace and supple leather seating. A candlelit foyer leads to a 17,000 square foot spa with 19 private treatment rooms, several experienced therapists, and a rooftop pool and spa tub that overlook the San Antonio skyline. Signature spa therapies include Spanish Rosemary massage, Lime Blossom Scalp and Body Treatment and Purple Sage Salt Glow. Candlelit spa tubs, separate locker lounges and a Spa Boutique are also found within the spa area. The 24 hour fitness center features strength training machines and cardiovascular equipment with individual LCD television screens. Adjacent to the fitness center, the Mind & Body Center offers complimentary weekend yoga classes. Chefs at the Pesca on the River restaurant prepare succulent steak and wild fish flown in daily, complemented by an extensive wine list, a stone and glass oyster bar and exquisite dining terrace along the Riverwalk. Meeting space throughout the hotel, including an original 19th century saddlery room, accommodates up to 50 guests.
Guestrooms. The Watermark Hotel and Spa’s 98 guestrooms feature 12 foot coffered ceilings draped with Italian Frette linens. All rooms include wrought iron, four poster beds. Select marble bathrooms house jetted tubs, separate showers and bathrobes. High speed wired and wireless Internet access is available in all accommodations. Minibars are stocked with local gourmet items and Dean & Deluca treats. In room safes are complimentary.
Expert Tip. Built in 1900, the hotel building originally housed the L. Frank Saddlery Company, which was one of the most successful leather goods companies in the nation. This company produced saddles and harnesses for Teddy Roosevelt’s “Rough Riders.” The saddlery also outfitted the legendary Mexican revolutionaly “Pancho” Villa, as well as honoring orders from Hollywood movie stars.
