Location. The Stanton House Hotel is located overlooking Stanton Lake and Park, one mile from the country village of Stanton Fitzwarren and four miles from Swindon in Wiltshire, England. Wiltshire is home to the prehistoric sites of Avebury, 20 miles away, and Stonehenge 39 miles from the hotel.

Swindon, five miles from the hotel, is the setting for the works of literary detective Thursday Next, creation of novelist Jasper Fforde, and some of the streets have been named after his characters. The Neolithic stone circle at Avebury is slightly older than the more famous Stonehenge; both are within 40 miles of Stanton House.
