Awful rooms and seriously bad service

"We booked the Sherlock Holmes Hotel based on the great looking website and the mainly positive reviews seen before for the night of our engagement party. We specified that this was a romantic break when we booked. My finance dropped the bag in the hallway of the room and dashed off to meet me and our guests at our party venue. When we came to the hotel back after a great night out at around12.30am, we had a most unpleasant surprise. The room was hard to find (the sign posts were missing or wrong), freezing cold with the air con at 10C and not budging above 15C, the room a claustrophobic box with an industrial extractor fan outside the window giving the feeling of being next to a plane. We immediately called reception to be moved. The most unhelpful woman at the front desk told us that they were fully booked and it was tough luck. We decided not to have our night ruined and phoned a different hotel and left straight away only to see a number of people being just checked in, so clearly they still had unallocated rooms!!! I would strongly advise to avoid this awful, rude and overpriced excuse of a hotel at all cost. It was the most disappointing experience I ever made and hope that no one has to go through the same. Shame on you, Plaza Hotels!"
