"Rubens location is its true selling point, and the best sales pitch for those looking for a place to stay in London (aside from the fact that Ruben’s is famous enough to have an annotated dot on Tube maps). Across from Buckingham Palace and a short (5 min) walk from Victoria Station Rubens is not necessarily for the bar hopping / clubbing crowd. Although everything in London is at easy reach once you go to Victoria Station. Ruben’s is a sophisticated place. The rooms are clean, but small, and the showers are strong and hot, although the glass half partition, which is supposed to keep everything outside of the shower dry, is humorous enough to tell stories about at home. The only downside to Rubens is how small things are. If you are claustrophobic you may want to find a more Americanized hotel further out of town. But you’re in London! go for charm over size. Something also needs to be said for Victoria Station. It is not a simple tube stop. Victoria station is basically a shopping center selling everything from books to haircuts to socks. It has a full food court and a number of simple restaurants. And after a full day of touristing it can be nice to just grab some McDonald’s on the way back to the hotel, or some bread and cheese from Sainsbury (although the cheese shop in Victoria Station might be better). You won’t be disappointed if you choose Rubens at the Palace to be your resting point on a trip to London, unless you can’t stand small rooms)"
