Right next to the London Eye and the London Aquarium is the surprisingly successful Dali Universe. Surprising, because this commercial enterprise houses more than 500 works by the Catalan artist, including the world’s largest sculpture collection, illustrations, furniture and jewelry. Dali’s art is revealed in a labyrinth of galleries, and all the famous icons are here. There is the famous Mae West lips sofa, sculptures of melting clocks and religious works, plus a sculpture of the gravity-defying elephant on stilts. The collection is curated by Beniamino Levi, who worked alongside Dali on his sculptures, so this Dali Universe collection has an excellent pedigree. The Dali Universe is part of the County Hall Gallery, a dynamic space dedicated to modern works. You can buy a joint ticket with the Dali Universe to see Picasso: Art of a Genius, an exhibition of more than 100 rare lithographs, ceramics and tapestries. The Gallery has three more spaces collectively known as the White Space, which house temporary exhibitions of modern art. However, these spaces are frequently hired out for conferences and launches, so there may not be any art on public view.
