A sunny day in London is heaven on earth to some people, and spending that time strolling through the lovely Hyde Park is one of the best ways to enjoy it. The former hunting ground of King Henry VIII, Hyde Park is now known for the Serpentine, a lake used for boating and fishing; Rotten Row, the famous horse-riding track; and Speakers’ Corner, where British tradition says you can speak to the assembled crowd on absolutely any subject you wish (try it out – we dare you). Relax with a good book, sunbathe by the Serpentine, walk over to the Peter Pan statue or the Princess Diana Memorial Playground, or go for a jog celebrity style – no makeup, dark sunglasses and a baseball cap. Who knows – you may even catch a glimpse of Madonna or Gwyneth getting their daily dose of exercise.

"This was a great way to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s fun to imagine the lords and ladies from olden days tooling around the park in their carriages, too! From what I’ve read, Hyde Park was the place to see and be seen! It’s a really pretty park, with lots of beautiful plants and fountains. It’s a great place to relax and have a picnic!"

"I really enjoyed Hyde Park. Walking along the Serpentine is very relaxing. It’s a very beautiful place. People watching is great here. Just sit under a tree and enjoy a lazy day of watching. I’ve not been through the whole of the park, but someday I will."

"I haven’t seen alllllll of Hyde Park since it is quite big, but it is a nice escape from the city if you want to just relax. I went to the part of Hyde Park that has the Speakers Corner. There were large flat fields where people would come and relax. They even had some kind of concert event thing they were setting up."

Hyde Park review

"I love Hyde Park – the Serpentine, the many paths, the flowers, the Peter Pan statue, the Princess Diana Memorial Playground – it’s all wonderful. We got some sandwiches to go, borrowed a blanket from our hotel room and had a great picnic next to the lake. The sun was out, luckily, so we made an afternoon of it; the girls and Mike played Frisbee while I took a short nap. It’s always crowded with joggers, walkers, sunbathers and soccer players (football…sorry) – a very fun atmosphere. Kensington Palace is on the far west side; it’s really beautiful. We also walked up to Speakers’ Corner, where anyone can rattle off about anything – pretty entertaining."
