Location. The Milton House Inn is located in the town of Stanley, Va., nestled in the Shenandoah Valley between the Massanutten and Blue Ridge Mountains. Jordan Hollow Stables, offering horseback riding through woodland and pastoral settings, is less than three miles away. Lake Arrowhead, located less than 10 miles from the inn, offers swimming, non-motorized boating and fishing. Shenandoah National Park is 11 miles away, and contains over 500 miles of trails, including 101 miles of the Appalachian Trail.
Features. Built in 1913, this Colonial-style inn was ordered from the Sears Roebuck catalogue and assembled by the original owners. Complimentary full breakfasts are served each morning in the main house’s dining room, or delivered to the guestrooms and cabins. Afternoon tea, including finger sandwiches, scones and cakes, is available for a fee. Concierge services are provided. Pets are not allowed at this property.

Guestrooms. The Milton House Inn offers three guest accommodations in the main house and two in separate, 650-square-foot cabins. All units provide cable television, and VCRs are featured in the cabins. Accommodations offer private bathrooms, some with jetted tubs, skylights or double showers. Egyptian-cotton linens are provided. Select guestrooms offer private balconies. The two cabins feature private entrances, sitting areas, mountain and skyline views, and outdoor hot tubs. The Woodland Cabin includes a refrigerator and coffeemaker. Log walls, an exposed beam ceiling and a four-poster bed are showcased in the Woodland Cabin.

Expert Tip. During the Christmas season, snowmen, Santas and other Christmas scenes fill the inn. On the first Saturday in December, the town’s parade passes by the inn’s front door.
