Best Kept East Coast Secret!
"I have been visiting Virginia Beach since I was a little girl. The Virginia Beach resort area has changed so much over the past decade, all for the better! They've done a lot to the beach itself. They expanded it so that it is much wider than any other beach I've seen (and I've seen a few!) You never have any trouble finding a spot to put a beach chair and umbrella. A couple new resorts and hotels have sprouted up, all are beautiful. Although I haven't stayed at the new Hilton on 31st Street, it looks beautiful from the outside. We did eat at Catch31 for lunch (new restaurant inside the Hilton) and we got a taste of what the hotel looked like--it was beautiful! There are lots of nearby attractions. I recommend checking out Ocean Breeze Water Park or Motor World for go-karting. Both are next door to each other and about a 10 minute drive from the oceanfront. If you stay on the main resort strip (anything on Atlantic Avenue), you are withing walking distance to putt-putt, fun houses, haunted houses and of course, the boardwalk! What's great about the boardwalk is that it looks clean and there is even a bicycle path so you don't get run over by bicycles when you're trying to take a leisurely stroll. The Best Kept Secret about Virginia Beach is the great deals you can find, ecspecially during non-Summer months. The best times to visit are April-May and Sept-October. I found a great website that offers discount packages at www.goldkeyvacations.com.I highly recommend Virginia Beach for romantic getaways or family vacations!
