"I grew up in San Diego going to the zoo and the wild animal park; in comparison, Northwest trek is small, but still very enjoyable. Even though I have lived in the Seattle area for the last 25 years, I still try to get there at least once a year. To be honest, the best time to go is when it is overcast (you shouldn't have a difficult time finding a day like that in the Northwest!); the animals are more likely to be out roaming. When it is hot, they are much like us and just want to stay in the cool of the trees. The tram is ran by very knowledgeable tour guides and you normally are able to see plenty. After the tram, you can walk around the park and enjoy the other animals that aren't out roaming (bears, wolves, etc).Bring the kids, or leave them home and enjoy the peace and quiet."
