Everett, WA Summary

The turn-of-the-twentieth-century lumber port where Frederick Weyerhaeuser built a sawmill is now known for building Boeing 747s, 767s, and 777s. Visitors can take a popular 1-hour tour of the Boeing plant, which is south of the city and west of I-5, off State Route 526. Another addition to the city’s economy is the Everett Naval Station, established in the early 1990s. Everett, a city of 70,000 people, lies beside Port Gardner Bay, an inlet of Puget Sound 28 miles north of Seattle, by I-5. The Mosquito Fleet offers marine wildlife cruises, including whale-watching tours, through the San Juan Islands. Train and bus service is available.
