Frank Lloyd Wright was a master of Arts and Crafts architecture, and his work continues to inspire people today. In Madison, you’ll have the opportunity to visit several of his buildings. Among Lloyd Wright’s creations are the Monona Terrace, First Unitarian Society, and the Airplane House. The aesthetic appeal here is undeniable, so take some time to venture through them and admire one of America’s great architects.
In addition to admiring architecture, take some time to admire the shopping available on State Street. You’ll find a pedestrian mall full of eclectic shops, cafes and restaurants. You can also visit museums and theaters, and go to a concert in the State Street/Capitol Square area. From there, take a look at the University of Wisconsin-Madison – it’s almost right in front of you! Madison also offers outdoor activities to keep you busy. Enjoy Lakes Mendota, Monona, Wingra, Waubesa or Kegonsa by boating or fishing. Take in the scenery in the Olbrich Botanical Gardens, where you’ll find a rose garden, a Thai pavilion and a conservatory filled with exotic blooms.
