Rawlins, WY Summary
Rawlins photo

The town of Rawlins sits halfway between Evanston and Cheyenne by I-80. Its small population of 11,000 once catered to the Union Pacific Railroad and attracted many desperadoes, including Big Nose George Parrot, a murdering train robber who ended up being lynched on Rawlins’ main street. Rawlins’ main attraction is the Frontier Prison, which only closed its doors in 1982. Tours of the jail include its cadaverous gas chamber and Death Row.
